Food packaging supplier Tri-Star Packaging has been selected as the UK distributor of Handle-it, a new cup holder developed by packaging designer Alison Bateman.

Claimed to be made from 100% recyclable wet-strength kraftboard, Handle-it is offered in different designs and sizes that are suitable for every type of business or event and take-out beverage, comprising tea, coffee, juice, milkshake and beer.

The re-usable cup holder comprises a pivotable handle attached to a tapered section that fits snugly around the circumference of a cup. Prior to use it folds completely and also occupies minimum space for storage.

According to the company, Handle-it's compact design makes it suitable for festivals, stadiums, and various types of event catering and it can be printed to use as a loyalty card to encourage re-use of the cup holder.

According to Tri-Star, Britain-made Handle-it saves on staff costs and reduces disposal hassles as it fills fewer black sacks compared to pulp trays.

It has a low carbon footprint and its light and compact design will help in reducing transport costs and fuel consumption.

Tri-Star Packaging managing director Kevin Curran said that Handle-it serves as a good alternative to a tray for café operators and event organizers.

"An empty space on a tray is a waste, and waste costs businesses money. Handle-it addresses this directly without inconveniencing the customer in any way," Curran added.

Handle-it inventor Alison Bateman said that Tri-Star has adopted the new cup holder with enthusiasm.

"Kevin and his team are renowned in the packaging industry for their ability to spot a winning innovation, so appointing them as preferred distribution partner in the UK was an easy decision to make," Bateman added.
